Please review tour route map of Roluos Temple Group & Flaoting Village
PRASAT LOLEI built late 9th century (893AD) by King Yasovarman I. He dedicated Lolei to Shiva and in the memory of the King’s father. This temple is north of Prasat Bakong and Prasat Preah Ko and is surrounded by laterite stones.
PARASAT PREAH KO was built in 9th century (between years 877-889) by King Indravarman I and he dedicated it to Shiva Brahmanism. The temple sits between Prasat Bakong and Prasat Lolei. Most of the temple building is brick with sandstone door frames. The function of this temple was for funerals, especially for the King’s parents, grandparents, and the previous King Jayavarman II, and his wife.
PRASAT BAKONG was built in AD 881 by King Indravarman I and dedicated to Shiva Brahmanism. This temple was in the central part of Hariharalaya city as well. The temple symbolized the cosmic Mount Meru with four levels leading to the central sanctuary. The walkways are guarded by Naga decorations.
OX-CART RIDING TOU You then travel with our guide to a local community where you will be able to visit a pagoda where Buddhist monks stay, plus a government or community school. You can see the local women making Khmer traditional items to be sold for souvenirs. Hopefully we will see farmers working in the fields and, if you wish, you can join them to plant bananas, vegetables or rice. It’s a wonderful photo opportunity to keep as a memory of your time with them and share your experiences with friends and family. Our guide will explain about daily life in the countryside and how different it is from life in the city. Your finish point will not be where you rode the ox-cart. Before or after visiting you can stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
FLOATING VILLAGES ON TONLE SAP The most popular sightseeing for locals and international visitors after finishing temples tours is to visit a floating village. Tonle Sap Lake is the largest lake in South East Asia, covering five Cambodian provinces. Most inhabitants around Tonle Sap are fisherman who also farm in the dry season. Cambodian floating villages are different to Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar, because in Cambodia they are built high off the ground on tall posts. From May to October the lake is flooded from the Mekong River which is the main water source for Tonle Sap. When in flood you will see the water rises up the house posts many meters. The floating village has no floating markets although pigs, chickens, gardens are commonly seen on floating pontoons. Most of the year (depending on water levels), you can have an adventure inside the Eco-forest by small boat.
We trust both our guide and driver met your expectations and served you well. We do apologize if we didn’t always meet your standards as our aim is for you to have an amazing experience with us. If you enjoyed our services it is ok to tip your driver and guide. We know some nationalities are not quite sure whether it is ok or not and don’t want to offend our culture. But here in Cambodia it is okay to tip. “Travel leaves footprints on our hearts”.
USD is acceptable everywhere and most of the places all the prices is set in USD and some places will not accept money if too old or torn.
